Easter is a time of great rejoicing for those who are trusting the Lord Jesus Christ for their salvation.
The LORD set His face resolutely to go up to Jerusalem, knowing full well what it entailed. He was betrayed, falsely accused and handed over to be crucified. By 9am on that first Good Friday they had Him nailed to that rugged cross and He was lifted up to die. He suffered and bled and at 3pm He died. He said quite clearly, “It is finished” (John 19:30). The work of purchasing our salvation was done.
Joseph or Arimathea and Nicodemus carefully took His body and buried it in Joseph’s garden tomb.
On that first Easter Sunday morning the tomb was empty, Christ was risen, and risen indeed! He laid down His life for our sins, and He rose again that we might have eternal life. Hallelujah.
We could now be forgiven our every sin, and have the promise of everlasting life. Almighty God, the Father would welcome us into His family as sons and daughters. What a privilege! What a tremendous hope!
