There are many calls of God in the Old Testament, all of them different. He called Moses from a desert bush burning with strange fire (Exodus 3). He called Isaiah from the holy majesty of His throne-room (Isaiah 6). He called Ezekiel from the centre of an inexpressible glory (Ezekiel 1). He called Samuel in a way so ordinary, so lacking in splendour or terror, that the youth thought it was the old man in the next room! Be alert to the calls of God in your life.
