HUMILITY

When William Carey was suffering his final illness, he was visited by a young Scottish missionary, Alexander Duff, who wanted to learn more of Carey’s work. After praying together, Duff said goodbye to Carey, and as he walked to the door, Carey whispered, “Mr Duff, you have been speaking about Dr Carey….Dr Carey….Dr Carey. When I am gone, say nothing about Dr Carey – speak about Dr Carey’s Saviour.” William Carey wanted Christ, not himself, to be remembered, and this was the secret of his usefulness to God.
